VIKA Maryland, LLC is a leading Civil Engineering, Planning, Survey, and Landscape Architecture firm in the DC metro area. We are currently seeking an experienced Planning Project Manager to join our Germantown or Beltsville, Maryland team. Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following technical and practical abilities to effectively thrive in this position:

  • AICP Certification or Landscape Architecture License
  • Minimum of 8years’ experience in entitlement planning and urban design
  • Strong background in business development, client and agency relationships, and community presentations
  • Specific experience in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, City of Rockville, and City of Gaithersburg
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Project management and supervision experience with proven decision-making and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines through efficient time management and organization
  • Well-rounded understanding of how the built environment is constructed to coordinate regulatory requirements with civil, landscape, and architectural designs
  • Excellent knowledge of research, design, and visualization software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Advanced MSOffice skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

This position will require carrying out the following assignments and roles within an interdisciplinary environment:

  • Manage and integrate landscape, civil, architectural, utility, and other aspects of site development design into coordinated regulatory plan sets
  • Manage and coordinate production and submission of entitlement applications, including natural resource inventories, concept plans, rezoning plans, subdivision plans, site plans, forest conservation plans, and conditional use/special exception plans
  • Build our book of business through various business development efforts, including researching and presenting opportunity sites, attending business events, participating in business and agency committees, and pursuing RFPs
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including subdivision, zoning, and environmental codes; area master plans and design guidelines; functional plans; and other policies and regulations
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor staff; supervise, coordinate, and review the work of junior designers and CAD technicians
  • Manage clients, consultants, and the project team to lead workflow, schedules, and deliverables through entitlement
  • Engage with agency staff to review and discuss plan comments and responses, negotiating code-compliant solutions in the project’s interest
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status
